Busy Busy Days

A visiting lad joined the boys in a friendly Sword Drill to see who could locate and read specified verses first. Stennes made an excellent ice cream for us to enjoy.
The Girl has really picked up the knitting process. She's a cutie pie.
ChubChub has learned how to wash dishes. That's pretty handy for Mean Ol' Mama.
Mean Ol' Mama received a sweet gift from a friend in Saudi Arabia. Handy sewing kits are always nice to have.
Just guess what the 3 big boys purchased. Hmmm...they're "all boy"...
Mean Ol' Mama received an unexpected gift of whole wheat cinnamon bread. What a blessing to have sweet friends!
And another gift of roasted peanuts, pecans, and fresh sausage (in the freezer) from other friends! Wow!
Knitting instruction...
ChubChub drew Mean Ol' Mama a turkey to comfort her when the Big Boys went turkey hunting.
The family reunion last Saturday was fun. There sure was a lot of good food (and plenty of people to eat it...)

Even a delicious Heath Bar Meringue Torte. Excellent!
Lots of folks and memories...

We walked around (too much torte!) and looked at all the animals and neat things next door.
Even The Girl found a female friend for fun play under the trees. They're making Mud Cake and Mud Turkey Breast (in case you're hungry...).
Poppins wanted to show this huge rooster to all the cousins. Now that's
one huge rooster.
The Girl worked on her Spring Fling project. She enjoys crafty activities like these.
After the family reunion, we went to a party to celebrate the baptism of our friend's son. Delicious and interesting...
Mole con arroz...
And here's the little guest of honor...
ChubChub proved his manhood...
Poppins took all the kids camping Saturday night. It was a bit cool, but they all had a nice time.
After a very busy week, we were glad to wrap it up with the Spring Fling. We had a nice time, but we're relieved that all the busy-ness seems to be winding down a bit.

Whew! What a week! Now we have to figure out how to get rid of "Spring Fever" and buckle back down to school work, house work, gardening, College stuff, etc. Mean Ol' Mama has the baking/cooking itch that needs to be scratched, and the weather outside is calling us out to play. Oh, bother. Sometimes it's a bit of a struggle to do our duty, isn't it?

Just a Touch of Fun

Tonight for "Dinner at Our House", we enjoyed pork patties, 10 pounds of mashed potatoes, a big green salad, buttered corn, strawberries, homemade rolls, and chocolate mint cookies. The Girl peeled and cut up enough potatoes to make hungry boys very happy. We have been extremely busy this past week. College work, a family reunion next door at Pop's (coming up Saturday), a party to attend (Saturday night), lots of homeschool business to oversee, Spring Fling (next Monday), band (tomorrow), violin/cello class (Tuesday), working at the U-Pick farm (assorted days), 200 essays for Mean Ol' Mama to score for Georgia (starting Friday), and the list goes on and on. Pop and the boys have painted almost the entire house next door...breathe, breathe, breathe... ChubChub helped Mean Ol' Mama sort sweet potatoes.
Poppins and the boys have been working diligently trying to establish the gardens.
They planted peppers of assorted types that Stennes was given after his workday at the U-Pick. Lots of vitamins in that flat, eh?
Sorry for the delay in posting. We had camera issues and have since purchased a new one. Now, for a touch of fun keep on reading...

The boys were being a bit silly last night and came up with a quick skit. Josiah, the rockin' bass player, is the "conductor".

Weekend Wrap-Up

Mean Ol' Mama is about finished teaching 1 of the 2 classes at the College. Teresa lettered student names on cedar bookmarks that the boys made as a memory for MOM's students. We had a fun day Friday at the homeschool meeting. A friend came home with the boys, and Poppins took them all down to the pond for a swim. A bit cold. Yep. Stennes climbed a tree to attach a rope.
Wheeee!!!
Anders participated in the 4H CPA competition in Americus on Saturday. He presented in the International category and won first place among about 18 other students. He really worked hard on memory work and posters. He's a good kid.
Stennes welded up a grappling hook for conquering trees and other tall edifices. He's all boy.
Poppins planted tomatoes, banana peppers, green peppers, and cucumbers this afternoon. The weather is beautiful.
Stennes and Josiah brought down a picnic table for Mean Ol' Mama that Pop made. We're trying to spruce up the place bit by bit and make it a home where everyone feels comfortable and at peace.
They had to make sure the new table was going to "fit". Gotta love it.
"Mira, Mami! Yo tengo una pelota! [Look, Mommy! I have a ball!]
Stennes gave The Girl a ride up into the tree. She was thrilled!

He plants on his knees and prays that he sees both a harvest of fruit and of souls...
Josiah and Anders took the shotguns out for target practice and did a fine job.
Stennes wrapped up a happy, peaceful day for us by treating us to homemade ice cream in the churn he bought at a thrift store a while back. Sweet, vanilla, cold, and yummy...Perfect ending for a sweet day...
Preaching tomorrow and the beginning of one of the busiest weeks this year. Brethren, pray for us...
