Around Our Home...

Branch is doing well in violin. He really has an ear for music, especially for "whiny, bluegrass"-type notes. "Where are they, ChubChub? Look carefully!"

"There they are! Aren't they beautiful?"

Pull, Stennes, pull! This Spring wind is strooooong!

Some of the boys camped out and prepared breakfast for everyone. Roasted rabbit, chicken, eggs, and potatoes from the garden...Mmmm....

The Girl hosted another themed tea party, Munchies in May, featuring appetizers. Quite tasty!
Three lovely ladies graced the event.
We went preaching 3 time Sunday afternoon in 3 different migrant camps. The first camp was waiting on a bus load to arrive, but there was a very nice group of Jamaicans, and we really had a good time.
One of them joined us on his guitar and really blessed us with his singing.
This Haitian woman was washing clothes in an ice chest. Mean Ol' Mama has used ice chests for washing children, but not for washing clothes. Doesn't she have a sweet smile?
Stennes helped ChubChub learn to ride without training wheels. Not bad for 3 years old. Of course, he told us that he's really 89...
Turning curves is a bit trickier...
Josiah brought his favorite chicken to show its pretty colors. Mean Ol' Mama held her for a bit until the call of the wild drew her away.
Stennes grilled hot dogs, but starting the fire took quite an effort because all of the wood was very soggy from recent rains. Persistence paid off...
The Girl and a visiting cousin put together a puzzle. Actually, the puzzle in the photo broke to pieces when the table collapsed (long story), so we put away the 1000 piece and replaced it with a 300 piece puzzle.
The big boys finished guitar classes for the summer and said "Adiues" to their Brazilian teacher. He is moving to Washington, D.C., and we were really sad to see him go. This man has talent dripping from every finger, and he's just as mean as Mean Ol' Mama, so we all got along quite well. Irreplaceable...
Stennes took a photo of a visiting moth. Gorgeous color.
And Josiah found a new friend. Mean Ol' Mama was thrilled again. Speechless with delight...[ahem...]. He has now been relocated to a new home.
These visiting friends are the snake's new family. We hope they enjoy His Royal Slipperiness.
ChubChub and Anders had a bit of snuggle time while the saga of Prince Stinkerbug continued...
Chub finally moved to another cozy spot and promptly drifted off to sleep.

We've been busy these last days. The kids are finishing up Band, guitar classes, performances, gardens, and some bookwork. There's definitely a shift in our direction as we look toward the next few months. We'll keep you updated.

Where do the days go?

Catching up in History. We're just about to leave Ancient Egypt. Some of the books we've studied and used for our notebooks:
A friend came over for a few hours and had fun with Junior Monopoly.
The Girl helped make Pineapple Pecan Bread. Mmmmm....
Stennes welded a plow to improve his garden.
Mean Ol' Mama bought a Strageto game for $1.00! Poppins was excited to show the boys a childhood favorite.
Isn't he handsome?
Stennes won 2nd place in an archery competition. Good job!
We went preaching Sunday about 1 hour away and had a flat tire. Great experience for the boys!
Stennes gives it just one more turn.
We finally made it! There was quite a crowd for the clothes we handed out, and they were encouraged by the Word and music.
This little guy found a stuffed dog.
Teresa gave a Poster Art class, and their art notebooks are filling up nicely.
The Girl and Branch worked diligently on Greek and Latin. They are making nice progress.
The gardens are coming along nicely. We'll be harvesting potatoes soon. Kale salads have been a treat lately, too, and the herbs are a tasty addition.
Look what Stennes harvested from his garden!
Stennes also made a small garden just for ChubChub in the "back forty".
Isn't this an interesting chicken that Stennes has?
Trying out the new plow...
Poppins gave Anders encouragement on planting watermelons.
