Today for lunch we had leftover vegetable soup with "bits & pieces", which are basically open things that need to be eaten up. For supper, Mean Ol' Mama put 2 packs of cheap pork chops in the crockpot until cooked. These were removed and bar-b-qued in the oven with potatoes, sweet potatoes and a splurge: crescent rolls on clearance!!! Yippee! We're also having beautiful kale from Stennes' garden and...something else? Not quite decided. Chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting for dessert. Two special friends will bring our grand total up to 16 for tonight's meal.
The photo below shows the kale in the wok and dried chickpeas in the crockpot (with the pork juices) for Curried Chickpea and Rice tomorrow. We purchase dried beans of all types in 10, 25, or 50 pound bags. Love love love 'em. Leftover baked potatoes will be fried for another meal, perhaps with onions and fresh eggs; leftover sweet potatoes will make Impossible Pies for tomorrow. Yummy! The green plant is actually one of Stennes' tiny cabbages. He brought it in just to encourage Mean Ol' Mama. The leaves will be shredded and added to the curry.
ChubChub wanted to show you his What's New binoculars, made for him by The Girl. It's simply amazing what he spied through these handy glasses: birds in the back yard and even Mean Ol' Mama's finger. Simply amazing how those empty toilet paper rolls can give a 4-year old "supersight"... Kind of makes you think of how many people today are looking at their lives with "empty eyes", seeing only what they want to see and not what's actually there...Hmmmm...
