Anders worked on his Mini-Booth faithfully, although he ended up dropping his project not once, not twice, but three times before he got it safely to its destination. And yes, he had to re-glue each time. Mean Ol' Mama was very pleased that he didn't grumble or complain about re-doing his work.
Okay, Mean Ol' Mama went a little crazy at W-Mart. But 50 cents for an 8-pack of Sharpies? We go through these markers very, very quickly at our house with all of the projects and performance details. In fact, Josiah has 2 packs out on the front porch even now to "paint" the lures he's turning on the lathe.
Even ChubChub pitched in around the house, bringing in pumpkins for the soup. He's probably felt a little neglected this week, so we have some snuggling to make up together.
Josiah let ChubChub help make pizza bread for lunch today. This is a treat for us, but pepperoni was 50 cents a bag at W-Mart (again!!), so we stocked up the freezer.
The next photo shows Caleb's THRONE that he made for the Georgia State Fair competition. This will be turned in Saturday and will be judged in October.
Levi made a gargantuan chest for the competition. We opened the lid for the picture so you can see the full product.
Stennes made COBBLER'S BENCH . What is most impressive about their entries is to know that they had to cut down the trees to make the boards to make the project, or they had to saw up 4 x 4 posts to make the boards to make the project, or they had to make a special tool to make the projects, and on and on...
The "foot" is removable and more lasts are attached to the back of the bench to give the correct shoe size for the cobbler's work. The tools are wooden. The bench is made of cherry, red oak, box elder, and sweet gum. There are four drawers and two hinged storage compartments.
The photo below shows a tired, tired Stennes. This is posted at 8:45 p.m., and he's still working on projects that have to be submitted tomorrow. What a fabulous education for him, but we're looking forward to next week when things will be back to "abnormal". Stennes really wants to concentrate on his Math. Perhaps the time in the Shop has reinforced the importance of knowing numbers and how they work together. We're expecting a busy weekend (surprise!!), but Monday should find us getting back in our daily groove. Our postings should be a little more reliable. Of course, we are starting a Mariachi band with the boys, and they have 2 major performances coming up in November, but...Yep, back to "abnormal"...
