We started out the day being observed by a student from the local college. I spoke to an Education class Monday evening, representing the local homeschool group. The professor asked if this student could observe us in order to fulfill her 10 hours/observation requirement, so she came for 2 hours this morning. It probably wasn't too exciting for her, and I felt badly that she probably didn't understand too much of what was going on. I worked with the older 3, finishing up some pre-Algebra problems from last week, we worked through a lesson in French, a short Spanish translation, and a Latin prayer translation. I spoke English (when I remembered), but it was a struggle. She just laughed and said to "...act normal...", so I switched back to Spanish with the kids. They were thankful because it was just a little to weird for us all.
Stennes is giving The Girl a class on proper sweeping. He's the one I call on to do a "super sweep".
"And this is how you pick it up..." We schedule mentor instruction with the little ones during which the bigger boys teach their specialties: sweeping, gardening, marksmanship, and even such non-romantic lessons such as scraping plates into the scrap bucket.
Here Josiah is working with Branch on cleaning out the van properly. He's very thorough, too.
This afternoon was another Patriotic Performance. The group is out in the parking lot, tuning all of those instruments. Tomorrow morning will be our final performance in a town about 30 miles away. We take a performance break during August and then gear up for Christmas Performance. There's always something on the back burner...
The Girl insisted that I include this picture taken Tuesday evening of her first swim with her face under the water.
And of course Josiah had to show us his flip.
I watched them swim, enjoyed the rest, looked at the gathering clouds, and thought about Home. You know which Home I'm talking about, don't you?
