Short and Sweet

Anders and his friend went hunting Saturday evening and brought home this fine tom. A few hours of smoking the meat and.....yummy!

Catching Up

Just a quick update: boys are finished with basketball, on to planting potatoes; the longhorn below is now resting in our freezer; ChubChub is now reading in English as well as he can in Spanish (SCORE!!!); busy with school and baking; The Girl makes beautiful bread by hand; too much going on in March...
It's been colder than normal down here, and we even had a touch of snow.
ChubChub was excited to find a nice block of ice.
We'll keep in touch...

This Weekend

The boys had an exciting basketball game. Anders is taking the free throw in the photo below.
See Josiah in the background with his hands up?
ChubChub and Mean ol' Mama went to the Boat Basin for a little stroll.

ChubChub took the next photo. He wanted everyone to see "...that crazy duck...".

We're Alive !!!

We've been busy, busy, busy. The following photo reminds me of our life: floating along but almost impossible to get hold of...
ChubChub hooked his foot. Ouch!
Maybe the facial expression will help get it out !
The old barn at the property...
...and the beautiful sunset...
...and our "other boys", as we call them
At the beach with the Vave family

The Girl has become quite a baker. She whips up cinnamon rolls, breads, pizza dough, pasta, and cookies with the greatest of ease,
She cooks while Mean Ol' Mama does way too much paperwork for way too many jobs.
Although even Mo'M has an occasional urge for lentil/sausage/kale soup for lunch...

Monday as (ab)Normal

A few wagons rolled through next door on their way to and from the local Mule Day celebration.
The Chubster was excited to finish his Spanish reading book and workbook. Now on to the next Spanish set...
These three "de-corned" the corn for the freezer while we did our memory recitations. Nothing like slicing corn on the cob to make the Catechism, Matthew 6, and a few poems go by more quickly...

And finally, The Girl was reading through Mean Ol' Mama's personal cookbook when she spied a recipe for quick fudge. Just had to try it late at night, ya know...

More Photos of our Crazy Lives

We can't have folks over for supper without making them "work for their dinner" !
Branch has been preparing for a bird class he has to present tomorrow night at Scouts.
And who is this fine-looking gentleman? He obviously has some eye issues...
...and a bit of a moustache problem. Yes folks, this is the same fellow who told us the other day, "I can't sit still because I'm too hybrid." hmmmmm............

Today's Craziness

See Branch below? He's sadly watching The Girl and ChubChub (who had the novel idea to recreate one of their favorite bowling alley snacks: fried cheese sticks). Poor Branch. That Latin assignment sure isn't very fun now, is it?

Well, here's to the old adage, "If you can't beat them, join them." It appears that cooking is far more exciting than declining third family nouns. Imagine that...
And this deserted Greek book? This is what inspired The Girl to try her hand at making fried cheese sticks, of course!
